TiPS Festival Reflections – Technology is important, but organisational change is essential

The professional services sector is undergoing rapid technological transformation. From AI-powered document review to virtual assistants and automation tools, new technologies are reshaping how legal and accountancy work is delivered. But while the tools are available, successful adoption is not guaranteed.    This event explored crucial insights into implementation: technology alone does not drive change—people and organisations do. Without aligning strategy, culture, processes, and regulatory frameworks, even the most advanced AI tools can fall short of their potential. In this session, we unpacked the relationship between technology adoption and organisational change in professional services.

Top TiPS

  • Start Small

Focus on manageable problems and make use of the resources you already have. Get the most out of your current tech before adding new technology. Don’t chase trends – deliver real value.

  • Prioritise People

Engage and involve different stakeholders early in the adoption journey to foster a growth mindset. Building support through genuine engagement makes change smoother and success sustainable.

  • Be Transparent

Address challenges openly, embrace discomfort, and cultivate resilience.

  • Stay Realistic About AI

Avoid riding the “hype” cycle. Incentivize curiosity and build on literacy to educate professionals about tech. Follow trusted experts and regulators to make informed and evidence-based decisions.

  • Learn from Mistakes and Success

Discuss failures and successes with peers to make smarter and safer decisions. Evaluate risk and check resources to support your adoption journey.

  • Plan with Flexibility

Map out goals but remain agile and open to necessary changes.

Finally, change does not happen overnight; focus on cultural change and engage key people (e.g., champions) to facilitate the transformation.
